The Great Smoky Mountain National Park features over 850 miles of hiking trails, hundreds of miles of streams, and access to dozens of waterfalls from easy to moderate difficulty. Within the 520,000 acres protected area, there are over 4,000 plants, 140 species of trees, and over 1600 bears. The park is also home to the rabbit, groundhog, red fox, coyote, bobcat, otter, deer, elk, boar, and many other animals. The Smoky Mountain National Park is one of the few parks where the entrance is free.
Feel like staying in town? The city of Gatlinburg offers activities for the entire family. Enjoy the outdoors with activities such as bicycling, fishing, golf, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, tubing, and winter sports. Ober Gatlinburg features a ski resort for winter months, and wildlife adventure and amusement center for the family during the summer months.
Take the scenic tram to the top for a breathtaking view of Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountains. Gatlinburg also features dozens of top quality restaurants and attractions such as the aquarium, Ripley’s museum, mini golf, shopping, crafts and of course, the old time photo to remember the experience for years to come.
Just 5 miles North of Gatlinburg lies her sister city, Pigeon Forge. Pigeon Forge features hundreds of restaurants, dinner shows, mini golf, bungy jumping, go-carts and of course Dollywood. Dollywood is a must see while in the area being a very family friendly amusement park. Over 2.5 million people visit the park each year.
